Lots of BBQ in the Future for 61 South!

We're taking a break right now, but we'll be back in action July 27,  at one of our favorite places, Buzzard Rock Resort, on beautiful Lake Barkley, near Kuttawa, Kentucky.  It's been a hot stretch lately with the extreme heat and the drought, but thank goodness, it looks like things are taking a turn for the cooler and wetter!

We'll kick off the month of August at the 132nd Fancy Farm Picnic in Fancy Farm, Kentucky.  The annual picnic is a Kentucky tradition featuring tons of barbequed pork and mutton, along with old fashioned "political speaking," which should be hot this year with the upcoming presidential election.  We'll play Saturday night, August 4th at the picnic.

On August 18th, we'll return to Buzzard Rock!  We'll wind up the month of August at Reidland, Kentucky on August 24th  for the final edition of "Hogs & Dogs."  It's an annual kick off to the Reidland High School football season, featuring lot's of good food and a parade of Harley Davidsons prior to the first game of the season! This will also be the last season of Reidland High School Football, as the school prepares to consolidate with others to form McCracken County High School next year, so we want to send them off with a bang.

In September, we'll play 2 festivals in Illinois, the Riverside Blues Festival and the Old King Coal Festival, along with a return to Paducah, Kentucky's BBQ on the River! Check out the website for the complete schedule, downloads, videos and more!

May God Bless!

The Return of the Riverside Blues Festival to Murphysboro, IL

Got some great news not long ago, Murphysboro, IL is bringing back the Riverside Blues Festival! It'll be held Saturday, September 22nd. Even better news is that we've been asked to appear, along with Lil Ed and The Blues Imperials, Tawl Paul & Slappin Henry Blue, King Juba, Ivas John and the Mud Sills. It'll be held at Riverside Park in Murphysboro, Illinois, sponsored by the Chamber of Commerce and the Southern Illinois Blues Society. We played this festival years ago and had a great time. The bands perform in the shell at the park, near the Big Muddy River. This year, the festival will be held in Murphysboro, along with the Murphysboro BBQ Cookoff. The BBQ contest wraps up earlier in the day Saturday, so you can sample the best BBQ around (17th Street BBQ in Murphysboro is a multiple winner at Memphis in May), and then head over to the shell to catch us, Lil Ed and the rest!
