2013? It's Here Already In One Sense!

Time sure flies, and for us, in a sense, it's already 2013! We're booking shows for 2013 and it's filling up fast, so if you or your festival would like us to play for 2013, just let us know asap to reserve your date!

Of course, if you believe he Mayan Calendar, there will be no 2013, but since I use the regular calendar, I'm not too concerned.  IF the Mayan calendar is RIGHT, I might as well not be concerned either, since it won't matter anyway!

For booking, call (270) 519-1788 or email at booking @ 61south.com and set aside your date for next year!  Hope to see you all in 2013!  NOW, back to 2012 and football season and oh yes, GO CARDS in the MLB Playoffs!

BBQ on the River Friday Night!

This was a lot of fun!  YOU picked our set list on twitter and facebook,  for BBQ on the River Friday night in Paducah, KY and which guitar I wold play!  Here's the results:

By a margin of one vote, I will play the Blonde Stratocaster Friday night, although I'll break out the telecaster, should I break a sting. It'll be the backup. Col JD Wilkes, an original member of 61 South is schedule to play with us, and Martin "Big Larry" Albritton, former lead singer of the Chicago Rhythm and Blues Players and Mellow Fellows is scheduled to sing with us for at least a couple of songs.

Setlist, top vote getters,  in no particular order, goes like this:

Waffle House Woman
I Been Cheated
Show Me
The Blues Is My Business
Pride and Joy
Tattoo Blues
Mustang Sally, to be sung by Martin "Big Larry" Albritton
Hip Shake
Got My Mojo Workin
Feels Like Rain

Thanks to all!  You can follow o Twitter on

YOU Make Out OUR Setlist Friday Night

We're doing something fun for BBQ on the River! We'll play Friday night at 5:30 on the main stage.  We want YOU to help make out our set list for our show!  Of course, I haven't used a set list for a show in about 15 years, but I will this time, depending on what you want to hear!

Just let us know on our facebook page for 61 South or my facebook page or tweet us at @Lew_Jetton or @61_South !  We'll tally up the votes and write down the set list, then play it back Friday Night frmo the main stage at the BBQ on the River!  While you're there be sure to enjoy the BBQ! The sale of the BBQ benefits local charities, and have a cold one in the Beer Garden, directly across from the stage! It benefits the Paducah Symphony! In fact, you can "adopt a keg" for the Paducah Symphony and help them, while getting cool beer glasses and beer tickets! It's all good fun, for VERY good causes!

Want Us To Play For YOU?

We're often asked about playing private parties and festivals, but so often, we're asked a month or so ahead of time and there's no way we can work it into our schedule.  By design, we simply don't play a high number of shows and we stay booked 6 to 12 months in advance, SO if you'd like to talk to us about playing your festival, club or private party, it's best to contact us as soon as possible! For example, if you think you might want us to play an event in 2013....it's best to contact us NOW!  Here's our current schedule.

We're already booking for 2013 and will probably have the year booked by the end of February, so by all means.... let us know if you're interested, so we can reserve the date.  We'd LOVE to play for you but simply cannot honor all requests! For booking email at booking@61south.com or call (270) 519-1788.

Thanks so much and Happy 2013!!! (I know...it's a little early)

Upcoming Festivals!

Taking a little time off right now as we gear up for some festivals in September! Look for us at the Old King Coal Festival in West Frankfort, Illinois, the Biverside Blues Festival in Murphysboro, Illinois and the BBQ on the River in Paducah, Kentucky!

At the Riverside Blues Festival, we'll be appearing alongside Lil Ed and the Blues Imperials, one of the finest national touring blues bands in the country.  We've played at sevearl blues festivals over the years with Lil Ed and he's dynamite! It'll be a real treat for fans who come out!  Meanwhile, although we'll play a Friday night slot at the BBQ on the River this year in Paducah, fans will want to come back Saturday to hear Blue Mother Tupelo! We've know this husband-wife led band for several years and appeared at several festivals with them.  They're incredible talents with a truly unique sound!  Oh yes, the BBQ is really good too and it all goes to help charities!

Lots of BBQ in the Future for 61 South!

We're taking a break right now, but we'll be back in action July 27,  at one of our favorite places, Buzzard Rock Resort, on beautiful Lake Barkley, near Kuttawa, Kentucky.  It's been a hot stretch lately with the extreme heat and the drought, but thank goodness, it looks like things are taking a turn for the cooler and wetter!

We'll kick off the month of August at the 132nd Fancy Farm Picnic in Fancy Farm, Kentucky.  The annual picnic is a Kentucky tradition featuring tons of barbequed pork and mutton, along with old fashioned "political speaking," which should be hot this year with the upcoming presidential election.  We'll play Saturday night, August 4th at the picnic.

On August 18th, we'll return to Buzzard Rock!  We'll wind up the month of August at Reidland, Kentucky on August 24th  for the final edition of "Hogs & Dogs."  It's an annual kick off to the Reidland High School football season, featuring lot's of good food and a parade of Harley Davidsons prior to the first game of the season! This will also be the last season of Reidland High School Football, as the school prepares to consolidate with others to form McCracken County High School next year, so we want to send them off with a bang.

In September, we'll play 2 festivals in Illinois, the Riverside Blues Festival and the Old King Coal Festival, along with a return to Paducah, Kentucky's BBQ on the River! Check out the website for the complete schedule, downloads, videos and more!

May God Bless!
Lew

The Return of the Riverside Blues Festival to Murphysboro, IL

Got some great news not long ago, Murphysboro, IL is bringing back the Riverside Blues Festival! It'll be held Saturday, September 22nd. Even better news is that we've been asked to appear, along with Lil Ed and The Blues Imperials, Tawl Paul & Slappin Henry Blue, King Juba, Ivas John and the Mud Sills. It'll be held at Riverside Park in Murphysboro, Illinois, sponsored by the Chamber of Commerce and the Southern Illinois Blues Society. We played this festival years ago and had a great time. The bands perform in the shell at the park, near the Big Muddy River. This year, the festival will be held in Murphysboro, along with the Murphysboro BBQ Cookoff. The BBQ contest wraps up earlier in the day Saturday, so you can sample the best BBQ around (17th Street BBQ in Murphysboro is a multiple winner at Memphis in May), and then head over to the shell to catch us, Lil Ed and the rest!
